Welcome to PromiseLand!
A Workshop Rotation Ministry for Children

 PromiseLand Welcome.jpg (403946 bytes)
PromiseLand is a wonderful new way for children to learn about the Bible and the ways God fulfills his promises. Unlike traditional Sunday School, PromiseLand employs a variety of active learning methods to help the students really know and understand the Bible stories. The children spend about four weeks on the same story, visiting several different workshops which correspond to various learning styles.

PromiseLand is based on the Workshop Rotation Model, which has been developed by a grassroots network of churches from several different denominations. Their official web site is www.rotation.org. For an excellent introductory article to the workshop rotation concept, click here.

All children, age 4 through 5th grade, are warmly invited to come explore PromiseLand. We begin each Sunday promptly at 10 a.m. i on the third floor of the Education Building. A sign will greet you at the top of the stairs with instructions on which workshop you will visit that day.

Our current workshops include:

PromiseLand M&M.jpg (465629 bytes)Mary & Martha's Bed & Breakfast is our story and game workshop. It is decorated like the interior of a simple middle-eastern home.

Disciples' Designs - the arts & crafts workshop is brightly painted and is a place for the students to express their understanding of the stories through a variety of art mediums.

Apostles' Theatre is our drama workshop, complete with a curtained stage and lots of costumes and props. Here the children are able to act out the Bible stories.

PromiseLand Promises.jpg (154032 bytes)Promises.Net - our well-equipped computer lab provides an opportunity for the children to explore the Bible stories through a variety of software. They can even print out their own Bible storybooks!

Sower's Cinema is our audio-visual workshop. Here the Bible stories come alive through videos and puppets. Soon we will have real theater seats, and yes, we do serve popcorn!
