Opportunities for Fellowship

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:23-25)

Fellowship among Christians is essential in order to provide the necessary encouragement and support we need to survive in a lonely and discouraging world. In addition to the worship and educational ministries which also provide fellowship, there are special fellowship opportunities within the church.

Women's Ministries

The women of the congregation plan several special events each year to promote both fellowship and discipleship. An annual highlight is a Women's Beach Retreat. This year's retreat will take place on Wrightsville Beach on September 23-26. Other activities include seasonal gatherings and a fall yard sale to benefit the Kannapolis Bible Teaching Association.

A women's circle Bible study meets on the second Monday of each month at the church at 2:00 p.m. All women are welcome to attend.

All of the men of the church are invited to attend the Presbyterian Men Breakfast on the third Sunday of the month, 8:00 a.m., in the Fellowship Hall. After a hearty breakfast and time of fellowship we enjoy an informative or inspirational program. The Presbyterian Men also host an annual banquet in May to honor the ladies of the church, provide the special music during the worship service on Mothers' Day, and have "adopted" occasional work projects around the church.

The JOY Group is a fellowship of senior citizens in our church. The club meets for occasional covered dish lunches--enjoying good food, good fellowship, and good programs. On other months, the group goes out to eat or takes a day trip to interesting places in the region.

Supper Club

If you are an adult—single or married—who likes to eat, make friends, and get to know others in the church better, the Supper Club is for you! It is for new and long-time members, young and old, and everyone in between. The sole purpose and agenda of a church supper club is to provide a means for greater fellowship. When six or eight Christians come together for a relaxing evening of dinner and conversation, they learn much about each other and draw closer together in the Lord. Here's how it works:
* Individuals and couples who wish to participate register in September.
* All those who register attend a covered dish supper at the church in late September. At this time the groups are announced for each month and the program is explained in detail.
* Once a month, November through April (skipping December), the groups meet in the home of the host couple. The groups will consist of three couples or pairs of singles:
Host(ess) couple: provides meat, bread, beverage for eight people
2nd couple: provides 2 vegetables for eight people
3rd couple: provides salad and dessert for eight people
The host couples are encouraged to invite a fourth couple—prospective members, new members, or neighbors.
*
Each month the couples are rotated and scrambled, so that each couple will host once or twice during the year, and each month the couples will dine with different couples.
* In May the whole club comes back together for a celebration dinner.

Prayer Fellowship

hands22c.gif (15463 bytes)Prayer Fellowship is a time when we come together as a body of Christ on the first Sunday of each month for a time of fellowship, thanksgiving and prayer. The time is at 9:00 a.m. in the Session Room for 30-35 minutes. Participants are assigned prayer partners each month with whom they can share prayer concerns. The Prayer Fellowship also coordinates a PrayerTree. A number of women gather for prayer in the Young Adult Sunday School Classroom on the second floor of the Education Building on other Sundays at 9:00 a.m.
