“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:23-25, NLT)
Fellowship among Christians is essential in order to provide the necessary encouragement and support we need to survive in a lonely and discouraging world. In addition to the worship and educational ministries which also provide fellowship, there are special fellowship opportunities within the church. We meet regularly on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings (during the school year) for food, fun, fellowship, learning and serving.
Coffee @ 9:30 am
Sunday School @ 10 am
Worship @ 11 am
Church Dinner @ 5:45 pm
Classes & Missions @ 6:30 pm
Each Sunday morning, everyone is invited to gather in the Fellowship Hall, between 9:30 and 9:55 a.m., for coffee & juice and a light continental breakfast (pastries, fruit, etc.). This is a great time to relax and get caught up with your friends or to make new friends! If your family is rushed on Sunday mornings, you don’t have to worry about eating breakfast before coming to church! [top]
Each Wednesday, a supper is served in the Fellowship Hall, Sept – May, from 5:45 – 6:30 p.m. This is another great time to get together with your church family for fellowship. It also makes it much easier for individuals and families to take part in all the other Wednesday Night Life activities! No reservations needed. The suggested donation to cover the cost of the food is $5 per person, (maximum of $20 a family). When you visit our church for the first time, you should receive a mug full of info and goodies, including a coupon to try out a Wednesday Supper for free. From 6:30 – 7:30 pm on Wednesdays, we rotate from week to week from community groups to worship to missions. See the newsletter for the latest. [top]
The women of the congregation plan occasional events each year to promote both fellowship and discipleship. Past highlights have included a Women’s Beach Retreat and a yard sale to benefit the Kannapolis Bible Teaching Association.
Saltshakers (New Women’s Bible Study) (Sept. 19 – May 1) We are excited to announce a new Women’s Bible Study, Saltshakers, beginning in September. Women will gather to meet on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. with the starting date scheduled for September 19 and an ending date of May 1 with breaks during the month of December and throughout the meeting schedule. This study comes to us from a satellite women’s ministry based in Raleigh, NC. It is an interdenominational study. This ministry began with 8 women meeting together and over the years has grown to serve over 500 women in the Raleigh and surrounding areas. Landra Goodnight Staab will facilitate the lesson each week in a small group setting with lecture speaker, Sarah Knott, coming to us by satellite. Registration is necessary so that materials may be provided. Register by completing a registration card found in the narthex or entrance to the fellowship hall, or click HERE to print one out, then drop it in the offering plate or contact Judy D. Goodnight or the church office. This is an exciting time in the life of women of First Presbyterian Church. All women of all ages are invited to attend.
A Women’s Circle Bible study meets on the second Monday of each month 2:00 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. All women are welcome to attend!
A weekly Women’s Bible study meets each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Session Room (basement of the Sanctuary). This study is open to all women. They have explored all of the Bad Girls of the Bible series and other studies especially related to women. [top]
The JOY Group (Just Older Youth) is a fellowship of senior citizens and retirees in our church. The club meets for occasional covered dish lunches–enjoying good food, good fellowship, and good programs. On other months, the group goes out to eat or takes a day trip to interesting places in the region. [top]
