Darryl Evans, pastor
Darryl and his family arrived in Kannapolis in May 2012, after serving six and a half years in Washington, NC. A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Darryl is a graduate of William & Mary College in Virginia and holds his M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary in California. Currently he is pursuing his DMin degree with Fuller. Before going to seminary, he served on the staff of the Joint Economic Committee of the United States Congress for five years.
Darryl has a passion for community outreach and ministry. While in Washington, NC, he served as president of the local food pantry and helped to establish a domestic violence shelter. He loves to study scripture and finds preaching and teaching a true joy.
Darryl is married to Mary Lee and they have two children. He loves heirloom tomato gardening, surf fishing, boating and strong coffee. He loves going on dates with Mary Lee and visiting Montreat.
David Hamilton, music director
David recently moved back to Kannapolis with his wife Amy, after having lived in Rochester, New York City and Boston working and studying as a professional singer. During his time away God has blessed him with four beautiful children: Banagher, Linden, Violet, and Amias. Just to make sure he has enough time being with kids and music, David started a job teaching Chorus at A.L. Brown High School!
“I am very thankful and humbled to be your Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church. I look forward to serving you and sharing my gifts to glorify God. Darryl and I are excited about the future at First Presbyterian Church. I am particularly excited about planning special music and special services.”
